Quick Summary:
Over the last few years, I’ve tried hundreds of cellulite products trying to sort out the good from the bad for you guys.
I’ve had my share of bad apples…but my goodness, I think I found the biggest, baddest apple of them all.
I present to you BeautyBum Muscle Toning Lotion by BeautyFit, coming in with a 1 star rating. (I wish I could go negative with it.)
My entire experience was an absolute nightmare.
The “heat activated” lotion seared my skin and left insanely red, raised rashes.
The burning sensation and awful side effects lasted multiple hours even after showering the product off.
I even had to put aloe vera gel all over my body in an attempt for some relief, but that didn’t even seem to really work.
I hate this entire product and not to mention it stinks like menthol, is sticky, and the company is so sales-y and annoying.
When I bought the toning lotion on BeautyFit.com, it had pop-ups at the bottom corner every 30-60 seconds, letting me know when someone in a random state bought a product. Not even the same product or a similar one, just like a random product like a sling backpack or supplement. This isn’t Hotels.com, I don’t need to know what or when people are buying things.
Then while checking out, it had a pop up for a free BeautyControl Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream product (no thanks), then another pop up for 2 discounted products to add to my cart (no thanks), THEN moments later another pop up for 10% off my next purchase but it had something to do with a 1 hour limited time.
I understand sales and marketing tactics, but you don’t need to use every single one and rapidfire.
Please, save your time, hard earned money, and precious skin and do a HARD PASS on this product.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
BeautyBum Muscle Toning Lotion comes out of the squeezable tube as an unexpected baby blue colored lotion.
It has the texture and feel of a typical body lotion.
This is a true lotion and not thick like a cream.
Application
The application process is when things take a deep dive… into a fiery inferno.
Here’s what the directions say on the bottle and then I’ll let you know how my experience was.
It says to apply a generous amount to legs, thighs, and buttocks until the cream disappears and it can be applied pre-workout for a targeted area.
Then it says to wash hands immediately after and that you’ll feel and see a slight warmth and redness as the result of the “fat mobilization”.
For me, the lotion applied prettily easily but within a few minutes my skin started to turn red.
Then after 5 minutes or so, my skin flamed up and got insanely irritated with a painful, red, raised rash everywhere I applied it.
The rash even went down my arms from my wrists to my elbows and I didn’t even apply it directly on there! So they got that irritated just from brushing up against the areas I did use it on.
The pain lasted 45 minutes or so, even after washing the product off in the shower.
The red rash and irritation lasted over 3 hours, again even after washing it off.
Drying Time
The lotion dried quickly in a couple minutes.
But it also dried super sticky, which is a pet peeve of mine.
And obviously the searing of my skin after it physically dried wasn’t ideal.
Smell (in the tube)
I found this super odd but I bought the “Original” scent for this product.
But they have a wide variety of weird scents available that I’ve never seen with other cellulite products like chocolate cake, bubble gum strawberry, and cotton candy.
I can’t speak for those interesting scents but the “Original” scent for this lotion has the WORST chemical, menthol smell to it.
It’ll definitely give you a headache if you smell it from the tube for longer than a few seconds.
The lotion even has a slight hot, burning smell to it.
Smell (a few hours after application)
The gross menthol smell sticks around for a while after application.
I’d say it lingers for a few hours and then eventually starts to fade away.
Short Term Results
Absolutely none. Even worse, it made me have painful side effects.
As I’ve been saying, it’s just awful.
Short term it ruins your skin and makes it red, irritated, painful, and itchy.
Long Term Results
Again, no results, just painful reactions.
I guess you could say it made my cellulite less noticeable because I was distracted by my flaming red skin.
Even if this product gave me an ounce of help (or even a ton of skin benefits), nothing is worth putting yourself and your skin through something that painful.
Ingredients
There’s a boatload of ingredients in this product. I’m counting 41, which is just insane to me and slightly concerning because the majority of these ingredients are foreign to me.
And I’m not a fan of putting a chemical concoction on my skin and obviously my skin doesn’t appreciate it either.
They advertise the inclusion of DermaCore®, which they state is a combination of active ingredients that “maximizes fat burn lipolysis, minimizes lipids storage (lipogenesis) and inhibits the maturation of new adipocytes (adipogenesis).”
They make some pretty wild claims and please keep in mind that cellulite creams are not miracle workers and won’t change your body overnight.
They do include Beta & Alpha Hydroxy Acids, which are commonly known in the beauty world. BHA and AHA help diminish the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation spots, and sun damage by moisturizing and tightening the skin and improving collagen and elastin.
They also include Caffeine and Menthol which help to improve and increase circulation in the skin. This in turn helps temporarily plump the skin and improve elasticity and firmness and support the integrity of the surrounding skin cells.
Price
An 8 ounce tube of BeautyBum Muscle Toning Lotion is $32.99 on BeautyFit.com.
But you have to add on another $9 for standard shipping. Ouch!
That brings the grand total to $41.99.
And works out to $5.25 per ounce.
That price point definitely matches the average lower end cellulite product.
And personally, no matter how good or bad this price is, nothing is worth going through the physical pain that this product puts you through.
Guarantee
Thank goodness BeautyFit offers a 30-day money back guarantee for their products bought from www.beautyfit.com.
They say if you aren’t satisfied with an item, you may return the item within 30 days from the order date for a full refund of the purchase price, minus the shipping, handling, gift wrap, or other charges.
The company also says that the item must be returned, unused or used, in good condition, in original boxes (whenever possible), and with all paperwork and accessories to ensure full credit.
It stinks that you don’t get refunded the shipping and handling charges but it’s better than nothing!
