Can Yoga Help Reduce Cellulite?

Cellulite and YogaWe all know there are a number of things that can help reduce cellulite.

For instance, eating nutritious foods, drinking lots of water, and ensuring that you get enough sleep.

However, there’s also something else you can do to diminish the appearance of unsightly cellulite—and that something is (surprisingly) yoga!

    Cellulite-Related Benefits of Yoga

In addition to yoga helping to reduce stress and increase internal peace, it also has positive effects on cellulite.

Essentially, it works your muscles so that they become more toned, which makes your skin look smoother in the process.

According to WebMD, the amount of cellulite you have, as well as its visibility, can be decreased by increasing your level of physical activity and lowering your level of body fat.

Yoga is great for both of these, making it an essential part of the solution to any cellulite problem.

    Yoga Recommendations

To get the most benefit from your yoga workouts, you want to do it three or four days a week.

This will help your body get into better shape, thus reducing the cellulite on your butt and thighs.

Of course, some yoga movements are better than others when it comes to providing this type of effect.

So, if your goal is to minimize your cellulite’s appearance, there are a couple poses that you should consider…

    3 Cellulite-Busting Yoga Poses

The first yoga pose that can help reduce cellulite and improve your appearance is called the eagle pose.

This one directly impacts your inner and outer thighs, providing you the firm and taut skin that you so desperately want.

To do it, while you are standing, cross your right thigh over your left thigh, hooking your right foot behind your left calf if you can.

Then wrap your left arm under your right arm, bringing your palms so they are facing each other.

Lower your body weight as if you are going to sit in a chair and hold it for a few breaths before switching sides.

The second yoga pose that can help banish your cellulite is the incline plank.

This movement focuses primarily on your hamstrings (the muscles in the back of your thigh), which is the one area that cellulite often appears most.

Simply sit on the floor with your legs straight and your feet out in front of you.

Put each of your palms on the floor around 10 inches behind your hips, then lift your butt up into the air so that your body is straight as a board.

Your neck should be straight as well, with your head facing the ceiling or sky.

Just as with the eagle pose, hold this position for a few breaths before lowering your body back to the floor, resting for a moment before raising it again.

The third yoga pose that helps with cellulite is the shoulder stand.

Admittedly, this one probably looks the least comfortable of the three, but its positive effect on your lymphatic system makes it beneficial not only to reducing your cellulite, but also to improving your health.

This move requires that you lie on your back.

Slowly, use your arms and abdominals to help you lift your hips into the air.

Try to get your legs so they are straight up and perpendicular to the floor, your body weight resting on your shoulders and biceps while your hands are helping to stabilize your hips.

Hold, then return to the floor.

Practice these moves regularly and you can feel good knowing your improving your health and well-bring, and maybe even reducing the appearance of your cellulite at the same time!
