Quick Summary:
Murad Firm And Tone Serum isn’t one of our favorite cellulite creams out there.
It takes awhile to dry, doesn’t smell great, and has some questionable ingredients.
Most importantly, it repeatedly gave me a rash and caused hives to break out all over my skin!
Because I had to immediately wash it off, it really didn’t do a lot for my skin or cellulite.
Clearly, we weren’t very impressed with the results.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
Murad Firm And Tone Serum comes out of its tube as an opaque-colored gel.
It actually feels pretty smooth and slick.
Application
Like most gels, it’s easy to apply this cellulite cream.
It goes on easily and blends in quickly– two things we like when applying these products!
Drying Time
Surprisingly based on its texture, Murad Firm And Tone Serum took FOREVER to dry.
It feels very “heavy” on the skin and just seems to sit there wet for quite a long time.
We definitely wished this one dried more quickly.
Also of note, right around the time it was drying, my skin broke out into hives. It was so uncomfortable, that I had to wash the product off :(
Smell (in the bottle)
The smell of this Murad product isn’t that great right away.
It has very medicine-y smell to it.
Needless to say, we weren’t fans of the smell :(
Smell (a few hours after application)
Unfortunately, I really can’t tell you how this smells over time because I had to wash it off due to the hives it was giving me.
Short Term Results
Shorter term, we really didn’t see any significant results with Murad Firm And Tone Serum.
In the short term, we usually don’t expect much more than increased moisturization and maybe some “clearing up” of the skin.
With this one, we couldn’t keep it on long enough to see either.
Long Term Results
Unfortunately, we didn’t see much results longer term either when using this product.
Ingredients
The ingredients in Murad Firm And Tone Serum are where the problem lies with this product.
They do have some good ingredients for cellulite improvement in there. Things like caffeine, retinol and centella asiatica extract.
But it also contains things that aren’t so great like parabens and alcohol.
They also made an unusual mistake of adding salicylic acid to a formula containing retinol.
As I’m sure some of you are aware, acids like salicylic acid, AHAs and BHAs render retinol completely inert on a molecular level (sorry to geek out there!).
That means it breaks down in the presence of these acids.
So even though some of the ingredients in this product are fine, some of the others are problematic (and caused severe irritation).
Price
A bottle of Murad Firm And Tone Serum costs $78.00.
That’s a lot for a bottle of cellulite cream, but when you factor in the 6.75 oz tube size, it works out to a much more reasonable $11.55 per ounce.
Guarantee
This product has a very good 60-day moneyback guarantee.
So if you try it out and don’t like it for any reason, Murad makes it easy to get your money back (thank goodness).
