    Quick Summary:

After testing out Skinvolve Body Boost Gel, I give it 3/5 stars.

I like it more than the average cellulite gel and it has some good qualities to it.

Also, a little fun fact, it was in a recent Fab Fit Fun box!

I’m not the biggest fan of gel products but this one was much better than I anticipated.

This product is a gel stimulant and it’s meant to be used as a pre-workout activator to help tone, firm, and smooth.

The formula is sulfate free, paraben free, cruelty free, vegan, and made in USA.

It’s easy to apply because it comes in a mess-free squeezable tube.

Just apply a dime size amount to your problem areas and use circular motions to rub in.

It gives you an instant cold, tingly feeling.  This can be a little jolting if you’re not used to it but it wasn’t annoying like some other hot creams.

I definitely got goose bumps a number of times because I felt so cold!

But you’re supposed to use it before a workout, so throughout the workout your body naturally heats up and you don’t feel it as much.

Any product that heats up or tingles usually has menthol and smells SO horribly strong.

I’m so impressed with this gel because they’re able to mask a lot of the menthol smell with green tea and aloe vera.

You still definitely smell menthol but it’s much more subtle and almost smells spa-like once you put it on.

I noticed firmer looking skin with this gel stimulant and my cellulite was less noticeable.

It’s not as hydrating as other cellulite creams but it did give my skin some extra moisture.

I have to mention that this Body Boost Gel is a pretty penny!

It’s $45.00 for 5 fluid ounces and you have to tack on an extra $6.95 for standard shipping.

To make matters worse, they have some stipulations to their 30-day refund policy.

You can’t use more than 50% of the product or you’re ineligible for a refund and all shipping costs are nonrefundable.

But taking everything into account, I still like this product and give it 3/5 stars.

    Detailed Opinion:

    Texture/Feel

Skinvolve Body Boost Gel comes out of the tube as a cold, lime green colored gel.

It has a very slick texture to it and feels like a classic gel that’s easy to spread on the skin.

    Application

Application is pretty quick and easy.

It comes in a squeezable tube so it’s far less messy than a lot of cellulite products out there.

This product is labeled as a “pre-workout activator”, which are becoming more and more popular it seems.

So you’ll want to use this gel before any workout you do.

To use, just apply a dime size amount of product to troublesome or slow-to-tone areas like your lower stomach, booty, thighs, or arms and use small circular motions to rub in.

A little bit of product goes a long way, so use sparingly.

You’ll feel a cool, tingling effect set in immediately.

I’m super happy because the tingling sensation never reaches a hot, painful, burning sensation like SO many other hot creams do.

My skin was never irritated from the gel.

I never got red or a rash and I have really sensitive skin.

But they recommend a test patch for those with sensitive skin.

And make sure to wash your hands afterwards.

    Drying Time

This gel dries fast in 3 minutes or less.

It does have a cold, tingling sensation so your skin feels slightly wet (even when it’s dry).

As with most gels, it leaves a tiny bit of stickiness to your skin.

However, the stickiness only lasts for about 10-15 minutes and it’s REMARKABLY better than the majority of other cellulite gels I’ve tried.

    Smell (in the bottle)

In the bottle, this gel has a noticeable menthol smell.

But I’m impressed because they’re able to mute some of the intense menthol smell by mixing it with green tea and aloe vera.

So it winds up smelling more botanical-like as opposed to a crazy intense Vicks VapoRub menthol smell.

Smell (a few hours after application)

The smell levels out once it’s applied to your skin.

It lasts for about an hour or so after application and then gradually fades away.

It smells spa-like and you can pick out the green tea/aloe vera mixture among the menthol scent.

    Short Term Results

    My skin definitely felt tighter.

The formula has a few ingredients that contain caffeine, which helps plump your skin and give a smoothing effect.

    Long Term Results

After using this gel stimulant for a few weeks, I noticed some improvement with the appearance of my cellulite.

My problem areas looked and felt smoother, more toned, and firm.

My skin was a bit more moisturized but not as much as with other cellulite creams.

    Ingredients

The Body Boost Gel has a total of 26 ingredients, which is quite a lot.

I’m happy to see that the formula is paraben and sulfate free, made in the USA, vegan and cruelty free.

However, they do use FD&C Yellow #5 and FD&C Blue #1.

I don’t like when products use artificial colors but that’s also personal preference.

As far as notable ingredients, there are 4 that stand out.

Green Tea is well known for its anti-aging, beauty and health benefits.  It’s full of antioxidants and helps fight off harmful free radicals and reduces inflammation.  Green Tea contains properties that may help stimulate skin cell regeneration, boost collagen and elastin production, and increase skin elasticity and firmness.

Guarana is an Amazonian berry that contains a high concentration of caffeine, which helps increase blood flow.

Aloe Vera is used to help rejuvenate, moisturize, and soothe the skin.

Menthol is a popular ingredient in cellulite products because it’s thought to help boost circulation and tighten the skin.

    Price

A 5 fluid ounce bottle is $45.00 on the Skinvolve website.

That works out to be $9.00 per ounce of product.

They offer free shipping on orders over $50, but unfortunately this one bottle doesn’t meet the requirements. :(

So in that case, you have to pay $6.95 for standard shipping (3 – 7 days).

You wind up paying $51.95 for everything and that bumps it up to $10.39 per ounce.

This is definitely pricey but I still think it’s a good value.

If you want to save a few bucks, they offer 10% off your first order if you subscribe to their email list.

    Guarantee

Skinvolve has a guarantee but it has some stipulations to it.

If you’re unhappy with your purchase, they offer returns within 30 days of purchase back to your original form of payment.

Contact them to receive a return label at smoothtalk@skinvolve.com.

Once the item is received and inspected, they will initiate a return to your card minus the return shipping cost, which takes about 10 business days to process.

Unfortunately, if the item is more than 50% used, they can’t issue a refund.

They also don’t offer product exchanges.

This definitely isn’t a cheap cellulite product so I wish their return policy wasn’t so strict but I’m glad they at least have something in place.
